  • Louise Goodman from LC3 Church announced that the 12th Annual Kenya Kids Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, June 7 at Wachesaw East Golf Club to raise net proceeds for education, school supplies, uniforms, food support and clean water for families in extreme poverty—sponsorships start at $100 for a hole and $1,500 for a non-playing sponsor.  WFXB Fox TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities are investigating an armed robbery at a Murrells Inlet home on Sunnyside Avenue that occurred Sunday evening when three men, two of whom were armed, robbed two victims of money, cell phones, and a safe - photos of two suspects and their red Jeep Cherokee have been released and anyone with information is urged to call 8435465102.  WMBF News
  • Traffic was blocked from entering Harbour Village and Seacroft as Horry County Police Department investigated a potential wanted suspect outside Surfside Beach on Monday, April 14.  WPDE
  • A body was reported overnight along the Intracoastal Waterway near Fantasy Harbor Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, prompting a death investigation—teams from Horry County Police, Fire Rescue and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources responded and noted no threat to the community.  WMBF News
  • On April 14th, Horry County police responded to a complaint at The Landing at the Boathouse at 201 Fantasy Harbour Blvd and retrieved a male body from the Intracoastal Waterway near the Highway 501 overpass with injuries to his back and head—an autopsy will determine the cause of death.  My Horry News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • HTC invited every school serving kindergarten through 12th grade in Horry, Georgetown and Marion counties to select one student for the REEL Kid award, celebrating local resilience on April 10 at Medieval Times. Award recipients received an Olympic style medal, a prize from a ticket drawing and a new Apple iPad—video reels of their stories will be posted online each weekend this spring.  My Horry News
  • Students from the Horry-Georgetown Technical College International Culinary Institute earned a bronze medal and placed second at a top culinary competition in the Southeast over the weekend. Team Captain Don Princiotta led the team as they worked well together — showing skill and hard work.  WPDE
  • On Monday, Coastal Carolina University announced it earned a silver rating as one of the Military Friendly large public universities for 2025-2026, recognizing its support for 75 student veterans, 33 serving students, and 518 military-affiliated students — based on public data and survey responses.  WPDE
