- ➤ Meals on Wheels of Horry and Georgetown counties is serving homebound seniors after a rent hike forced them out of a longtime kitchen. The nonprofit received donated kitchen space from Horry-Georgetown Technical College and farmland from a local farmer, and announced a facility in Georgetown this week to improve services. WPDE
- ➤ Grady Campbell from The Arc of Horry Inc. announced a PB&J Competition Fundraiser for MLK Day of Service, running from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at Horry Georgetown Technical College (Café 1100). - ➤ The 14th annual Socastee Heritage Festival is held today from 10am to 4pm at the Sarvis House on Peachtree Road near the Socastee Swing Bridge. - ➤ Horry-Georgetown Technical College and Francis Marion University have set up a 2+2 transfer partnership that lets forestry students move from an associate to a bachelor’s degree while FMU adds 8,500 acres along the Great Pee Dee River for conservation and education. My Horry News
- ➤ Horry-Georgetown Technical College launched its first sanctioned sport, Gators Gaming, in Conway on April 2. - ➤ Horry County Council will hold a first reading on April 21 for a proposed ordinance requiring a 15-foot buffer from wetlands for developments.
