- ➤ Four chihuahua mix puppies—Garth, Jones, Clay and Retta—appeared on Good Morning Carolinas yesterday, as reported by Britney Hauser of Kind Keeper Animal Rescue. The shelter held a groundbreaking ceremony last month and is now raising money and seeking donations. WPDE

- ➤ Golden Egg, a longtime Surfside restaurant, sent a cease and desist letter Tuesday to Golden Eggs Brunchery, a new breakfast buffet in Myrtle Beach that uses a similar name. Owner Evan Bofilios said the restaurant’s 1991 registered trademark and mistaken produce delivery showed the need for the rival to change its name—he hopes to protect its reputation. WPDE
- ➤ Winna’s Kitchen will replace Le Manna Bread Company at 507 9th Ave. downtown, following council approval on April 8—while its Main Street location gets repairs. The owner said the new branch will serve breakfast and lunch with plans to open mid-May or June and the five-year lease includes an option to buy the building in January 2027. My Horry News

- ➤ The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources arrested two people in Horry County for allegedly killing an alligator out-of-season—one was arrested on April 3 and the other on April 7—and both were released on bond. My Horry News

- ➤ The annual Myrtle Beach Food Truck and Music Festival returns this weekend — over 50 food trucks serve choices from Mexican to BBQ and live music features include American Idol contestant Mariah Faith, Warrick McZeke, and Julio and the Saltines. The event runs Friday from noon to 8 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with tickets costing $10 per day. WFXB Fox TV

- ➤ On April 8, Surfside Beach leaders voted to design and bid on a new 6,000-square-foot council and court facility at a set cost of $3.5 million after mold and structural issues were found in their current center. They also extended a 90-day ban on new tobacco, vape and cannabis shops and turned down a plan to convert a pier building into a retail shop as a local business offered to sell town merchandise. - ➤ Surfside Beach council voted Tuesday night to put out bids for a new 6,000-square-foot council chamber and court facility at $3.5 million—this decision came after discovering mold and structural issues in the old facility and planning for future growth. The council also extended a 90-day moratorium on new vape, tobacco, and cannabis shops and rejected a plan to turn a small pier building into a retail space, opting to let Perry's Bait and Tackle sell town merchandise instead. - ➤ Thomas Wade Long, the son-in-law of a former councilman, filed a lawsuit on April 3 against the Horry County Police Department and five employees—he claims they wrongfully arrested him in summer 2022 after his support of Harold Worley.
