BUSINESS NEWS

  • Myrtle Beach welcomed the new Golftopia golf simulator today at BurgerFi, where it is available for play daily until 8pm.  WFXB Fox TV
  • A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Thursday to open Bistro B (1803 N. Kings Highway) on the Grand Strand, a new restaurant that features outdoor patio seating and onsite pickleball courts. The restaurant serves dishes like sushi, steak, pizza, burgers and fish and chips while offering a pickleball club that gives members a free paddle.  WFXB Fox TV
  • Drippy's Ice Cream is offering new flavors in honor of National Girl Scout Cookie month—these include Thin Mint, Peanut Butter Pattie and Samoa also known as Caramel Delites at its Garden City, Murrells Inlet and Surfside Beach Pier locations. The flavors will be available all April long and customers can vote in an ongoing poll that currently ranks Thin Mint as the top pick.  WFXB Fox TV

CRIME NEWS

  • On March 27 a Loris Elementary employee found a gun in a jacket pocket at the lost and found—surveillance video later confirmed that 65-year-old Dennis Grate entered the school with the jacket on March 14, and he was arrested for carrying a weapon on school property and filing a false police report.  WFXB Fox TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Carolina Country Music Fest is now sold out ahead of its 10th anniversary celebration in June in Myrtle Beach—organizers said the festival scheduled for June 5–8 will feature headliners Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Kid Rock and Rascal Flatts.  WMBF News
  • The Conscious Soul Festival kicks off today at The Market Common — featuring live music, drum circles, yoga classes and vendors. The festival continues on Sunday — with workshops on intuition, breathwork and the science of frequency and healing and a kids' area with crafts and bubbles.  WPDE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Huntington Beach State Park and Myrtle Beach State Park will offer guaranteed beach parking this summer from May 16 to September 1 for $5 per day—reservations open online on April 16 and spaces must be claimed by noon on the day of the reservation.  WFXB Fox TV
  • Kristie Baxley resigned from her Pawleys Island-area seat on the Georgetown County school board for personal reasons with her resignation effective April 9; a special election to fill her seat is scheduled for July 8 and candidate filing will open on April 25 and close on May 5.  The Post and Courier

SPORTS NEWS

  • The largest amateur golf tournament will return to the Grand Strand as the 42nd Play Golf Myrtle Beach World Amateur Championship is set to run from August 27th through August 29th with over 3,000 players on more than 50 award-winning courses. Registration is now open for all divisions—covering net, gross and just-for-fun—and includes four rounds, nightly access to the World’s Largest 19th Hole and a gift bag.  WFXB Fox TV
