CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Quentin Ahmad Jean pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for the July 6, 2022 shooting in downtown Myrtle Beach that killed a man aged 40 named Joshua Wilson—Jean was sentenced to 20 years and must serve 17 before he is eligible for release. My Horry News

- ➤ The Long Bay symphony will host 'Tragedy and Triumph' on April 6th at 4:00 p.m. at the MBHS Music and Arts Center (3302 Robert M Grissom Pkwy, Myrtle Beach) for a live performance. WFXB Fox TV
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Updated census numbers showed that between 2019 and 2023, 161,385 new residents moved to South Carolina from other states. The growth was concentrated in six counties (Greenville: 18,332; Horry: 17,683; Charleston: 16,757; Richland: 15,912; York: 11,913; Beaufort: 10,683) as people sought better weather, lifestyle and job opportunities. - ➤ Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical College welcomed over 500 eighth-grade students from Myrtle Beach and Conway at the second annual Teal & Tech Experience—students toured campuses and learned about new academic pathways led by CCU volunteers. WPDE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson today warned parents about violent online groups (764 movement) that target teens by coercing them into harmful acts such as self-harm and swatting. Parents should watch for signs like excessive private online activity and report any concerns to law enforcement or the FBI. WPDE
- ➤ City of Myrtle Beach plans to replace the aging Ted Collins Law Enforcement Center that houses police operations, city council meetings, and court sessions with a new facility budgeted at $25 million for design in fiscal year 2027. The city will also build a new 27,000-square-foot fire station with six engine bays next to Coast RTA’s facility, with construction set to begin in 2026 — a move to meet growing public safety needs.
