- ➤ Horry County Schools superintendent Clifford Jones led a budget meeting on March 24 where staff presented plans for the upcoming school year that include a one-time $200,000 request for an artificial intelligence tool to help teachers plan and grade. The proposal also allocates funds for two new elementary schools with construction on schedule for an August opening and a salary increase for educators, with a final vote planned in May. - ➤ Coastal Carolina University's associate athletic director Alise Svihla died on Sunday after fighting cancer since October 2022—she started a new student-athlete development program in January and launched a sports event for National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
