COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Conway Quilt Guild, which has donated over 28,800 quilts since 2013, lost its meeting space at the old Cochran School and had to move out by March 1, so it now meets temporarily at Union Methodist Church and urgently needs a new facility that holds 75-100 people + offers climate-controlled storage near the meeting area. Local members hope the community can help find a solution to avoid extra costs from renting storage 12 miles away. My Horry News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The family of Heather Elvis, a Grand Strand kidnapping victim, spoke with WMBF News on Sunday after a convicted kidnapper filed a retrial request, adding to the case's new developments. WMBF News

- ➤ King Tide earned a spot through CCMF's Hometown Stars and will perform on the Discover Stages at Carolina Country Music Fest in June— the band thanked supporters on Facebook. WPDE

- ➤ The Covington Drive fire remained at 2,059 acres with 80% containment as of Monday morning, and a statewide burn ban for North and South Carolina is in effect while crews patrol and mop up the area. WPDE

- ➤ On Sunday afternoon, postal workers gathered outside the main postal office on Assembly Street to oppose a plan to privatize the USPS — warning it will lead to pay cuts, layoffs and slower mail service for all users. They urged residents to call local lawmakers to support House Resolution 70 that would keep the service public. WPDE
- ➤ The City of Myrtle Beach is asking residents to donate funds for the future Vietnam Veterans Memorial—officials want community support to honor veterans. WMBF News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On March 24, the South Carolina Department of Public Health started a new Tuberculosis Control Program to stop TB and teach people how to prevent and treat it. The department uses doctors, nurses, social workers, and case managers to treat patients and check those in contact—83 TB cases were reported in 2024. WPDE
