- ➤ On Monday, residents met with New Directions and city leaders at a neighborhood watch meeting to discuss plans to convert a house near an existing men's shelter into a women's shelter. The proposal would expand capacity to serve up to 90 people + officials will review neighbors' feedback before proceeding. WMBF News
- ➤ Nomination forms for the Myrtle Beach Colonel Robert Hawkins Veteran Volunteer Service Award are available to honor Bob Hawkins, a retired U.S. Army officer. Community members can submit forms now to recognize local volunteer service. WPDE

- ➤ Fire crews are battling a 20-acre woods fire in the Nichols area at the 7000 block of Cookes Circle, which began around 7:38 p.m. today and is receiving help from state and local agencies as officials report that no structures are threatened yet residents may see smoke for an extended period. - ➤ City leaders are considering a pilot program to offer matching grants to business owners for facade improvements like awnings, windows and historic brickwork along downtown corridors.
