CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Ashley Danielle Jarnagin, a former Conway Medical Center nurse, was arrested on Monday and charged with three counts of drug distribution law violation after she fraudulently documented oxycodone administration in October 2024 (bail was set at $15,000). WPDE
- ➤ Retired military and federal law enforcement agent Gregory McDowell filed a lawsuit against the police department and one officer for falsely arresting him in November 2024 at his Conway home when he reported seeing what appeared to be a neighbor with a gun, and the suit claims the officer used a false affidavit—leading to McDowell being held in jail for two days under poor conditions—and he is seeking damages for his mental and emotional distress after charges were dismissed in a January hearing. - ➤ North Myrtle Beach had the coldest and driest winter in over a decade and now faces a 6- to 9-inch rainfall deficit (raising drought and wildfire risks) through May. - ➤ At a March 17 council meeting, North Myrtle Beach leaders approved an initial plan for a 137-home development on about 73 acres along the Intracoastal Waterway while delaying an amendment to The Preserve due to missing design details — they also announced a search for a new city manager with applications closing April 4. - ➤ Myrtle Beach is beginning a $42.6M ocean outfall project on 24th Avenue North that will replace 11 stormwater pipes with twin 84-inch pipes extending a quarter mile offshore to handle heavy rain and curb flooding. State funding and a planned $7M loan support work that started on March 17th—aimed at improving water quality for residents and visitors—while additional landward improvements are set to begin in fall 2026.
