- ➤ Surfside Beach town council discussed updating its bird ordinance on March 10 after residents complained about Canada geese damaging lawns and migration patterns; the proposed rules include fines starting at $100 + increasing to $500 and possible jail time for repeat offenders, with a workshop planned for public input. - ➤ Horry County officials say local buildings are built for hurricane winds, not the stronger tornado winds, leaving many structures less prepared for extreme conditions.
