- ➤ Horry County Search and Rescue—a volunteer group that trains K-9s and first responders to help police with about six missing person calls each day— has been preparing its team for over four months. K-9 Cain, who has already located a woman with Alzheimer’s and two minors— the organization will be fully operational by May— leads efforts to bring lost people home. WMBF News
- ➤ Car enthusiasts are gathering in Myrtle Beach for the annual Run to Sun Car Show featuring classic and custom vehicles. The event began on March 14th, 2025 and will continue through Sunday while one long-time owner noted car counts grew from 2,800 last year to 3,200 this year—awards will be presented on the final day. - ➤ BJ's Wholesale Club donated over $45,000 to the Lowcountry Food Bank to support its fresh express program. The donation will allow five partner pantries in Myrtle Beach to receive monthly fresh produce for a year—BJ's will also donate produce, meat, and dairy each week. WPDE

- ➤ A new florist shop called Blushing Blooms by Under the Oaks, located at 2609 Shoffner Drive in Conway, opened last month and had a busy Valentine’s Day rush as four generations of a family worked together. Owner Angie Porter, who recently retired from Conway Medical Center, and her daughter Ashley Rouhselang plan to expand the cutting garden to meet local demand — with relatives handling sales, deliveries, and online work. - ➤ A Horry County man named James Cox was arrested on Thursday for failing to stop for blue lights and driving on a suspended license after a long motorcycle chase near Myrtle Beach—he crashed into a ditch on Highway 9 in Longs and was taken to a hospital before going to jail—records show he has faced similar charges twice in the past 10 years. - ➤ A U.S. Court of Appeals on Friday reversed a lower court decision in a federal lawsuit by the ACLU against a North Myrtle Beach nightclub, ruling that the ban on music with vulgar language played above 30 decibels violates free speech. The ruling means the city’s noise ordinance, which targeted language content, is unconstitutional—limiting future enforcement of this provision. WPDE

- ➤ Rise Partners bought Coastal Centre in Conway for $14 million in October and plans to redevelop the old mall into more than 245,000 square feet of retail space with Marshalls, HomeGoods, Ulta Beauty, Five Below and PetSmart — alongside the existing Belk. City staff are reviewing proposals for over 1,000 parking spots and five anchor buildings, and the Conway City Council will consider incentives for the project at a meeting on March 17.
