  • Myrtle Beach leaders debated the future of the nearly century-old Kozy Corner building on Main Street and considered a proposal from Doyle Architects to replace it with a three-story project including a restaurant and apartments; board members requested design adjustments to honor its historical legacy.  WMBF News
  • Project Golf will host its 4th Annual 'Show Some Love' Charity Tournament on March 24 at Caledonia Golf and Fish Club to raise funds for disabled veterans and underserved youth (sponsors and silent auction items are still needed).  WFXB Fox TV
  • Myrtle Beach Classic volunteers working 24+ hours during the tournament from May 7–10 at Dunes Golf and Beach Club will earn deep golf discounts at 22 courses on July 27. Adults and juniors can register now for roles ranging from gallery management to hospitality.  WMBF News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Iranian threats have reduced marine traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, which could soon slow shipments at the Port of Charleston and raise local gas prices (a Summerville professor noted a 50-cent jump overnight); freight companies are already rerouting their fleets and consumers should watch for possible price increases.  WPDE

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Horry County will deploy recycled oyster shell baskets along Garden City and Little River beaches later this spring to reduce erosion and support marine life. The final baskets (assembled by Loris High School FFA) will join earlier projects from 2024 and 2025.  WMBF News
  • A coalition of environmental advocates has urged federal regulators to reject or adjust a proposed landfill expansion off Highway 90 in Horry County due to potential harm to wetlands, water quality and wildlife.   • Coastal Carolina women’s basketball lost 80-70 to South Alabama on Wednesday in the Sun Belt Tournament’s second round, ending their season at 14-18. A brawl in the final quarter led to eight ejections.  WMBF News
