- ➤ New Directions unveiled plans to build a 20,000-square-foot women’s shelter on Mr. Joe White Avenue at a city council meeting on Tuesday (Feb. 24) that will add 92 beds including 22 for emergencies. The nonprofit seeks council backing to combine parcels and move forward with the $7.6 million project. My Horry News
- ➤ Neighbors Helping Neighbors hosted a give-back event on Thursday in Loris, providing food and clothing to support those affected by rising homelessness in the area. The group will continue its support until a new shelter solution is found. WMBF News
- ➤ City leaders finalized the second phase of restoring Marion Avenue Cemetery using a geophysical team and ground-penetrating radar (to map the site), and the survey supports further preservation efforts. WMBF News

- ➤ Residents in Horry County are urging officials to install a traffic light at the busy Highway 90 and Highway 22 intersection after the fatal crash that took 15-year-old Ava Holland's life, as 18-year-old Emercin Smith started a petition after witnessing dangerous close calls during daily school runs. - ➤ Coastal Carolina University Board of Trustees approved new plans to build a pedestrian walkway over Highway 544, which will boost safe access between campus and nearby areas. WPDE
- ➤ The South Carolina House passed a bill in an 84 to 31 vote that will require classrooms and colleges to display the Ten Commandments with a historical statement + allow schools to add volunteer chaplains and optionally display other founding documents.
