  • Breeze Airways adds flights from MYR as it celebrates two years at the airport, launching non-stop service to Pittsburgh on July 3 and one-stop flights to Portland, Maine on July 2; travelers can book $39 fares from Feb. 24 to March 2 for travel until Sept. 15.  My Horry News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Conway’s Delta Sigma Theta Alumnae Chapter will host a free college prep and career fair for grades 7-12 on Saturday, Feb. 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Horry Georgetown Technical College Conway Campus + college reps and industry experts will guide students on admissions, scholarships, and career paths.  WPDE

  • Myrtle Beach police chief Amy Prock announced her retirement Monday after 30 years of service. Her last day is April 2 — she will continue community work off duty while a nationwide search for a new chief begins.  WPDE
  • Starting Feb. 28, drivers using handheld devices in Myrtle Beach face a $100 fine for a first offense + a $200 fine for repeat violations as the warning period under the new Hands Free and Distracted Driving Act ends.  My Horry News
  • On Tuesday, state lawmakers passed HB 4248 out of a subcommittee meeting to require restaurants to post shrimp country-of-origin details on menus & help diners make informed choices. Supporters say the move comes amid concerns over mislabeling that have touched Myrtle Beach’s dining scene.  WPDE
