  • Horry County Solid Waste Authority awaits US Army Corps feedback on a landfill expansion near S.C. Highway 90 between Conway and North Myrtle Beach — a plan to add capacity for 23.4 million tons in 45 years while filling 100+ acres of wetlands; officials promise safeguards if approved.  The Post and Courier

  • Gov. Henry McMaster (a conservation advocate) addressed 300 tourism professionals Monday at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. He accepted the Tourism Director's Award and stressed the need to conserve the coast for sustainable travel.  My Horry News
  • State Sen. Luke Rankin introduced a bill today requiring data centers to show plans for limiting water and power use as lawmakers debate new safeguards. Officials behind a planned project in Marion County say the facility will use a system to curb overconsumption — a measure meant to protect local utilities.  WPDE

HEALTH NEWS

  • Grand Strand Health broke ground on a two-story, $220 million hospital in south-end Myrtle Beach on Feb. 9; the facility will include 59 beds, four operating rooms and full imaging and surgical capabilities as part of a $350 million regional expansion.  My Horry News
