  • The NMB Humane Society hosts the 8th Annual Macaroni Mania on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 11am to 4pm at North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex. The family-friendly event offers cheesy treats, live entertainment, local shopping, and animal advocacy.  WFXB Fox TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Amazon is constructing a delivery hub along Postal Way in the Carolina Forest area to speed up package deliveries. Construction is underway and the project will create local jobs plus implement a traffic plan for smoother access to Highway 501.  WFXB Fox TV

  • The 65th annual Can-Am Days will begin Friday, March 13 and run through Saturday, March 22, featuring a series of local activities in Myrtle Beach.  WPDE

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Stephen Whisnant, the longtime band director at Loris High School with 32 years teaching, is running for the District 10 seat on the Horry County Board of Education to improve school safety, support special needs students & retain teachers. The June 9 primary marks the next step in his campaign.  My Horry News
  • Horry County Schools said on Feb. 9 that enrollment reached 47,177—about 1,000 fewer than projected—and 3,353 withdrawals have occurred since school began, with local numbers declining as some students return; a board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 23.  My Horry News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Horry County have raised environmental concerns over a proposed landfill expansion as the Solid Waste Authority meets with the community to address their worries. Officials plan to review the environmental impact and public input in the coming weeks.  WPDE
  • Pedal Pub proposed a 5-year franchise agreement during Tuesday's city council meeting for year-round bike tours along North Ocean Boulevard near the SkyWheel. The company said tours will run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. to boost local bars + restaurants while addressing safety issues.  WPDE
