COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Socastee High School will host a Trunk-or-Treat event Sunday to raise funds for alum Zoe Knick—who has a rare brain tumor on her pineal gland and will begin radiation treatment Monday—by offering carnival games and food.  WPDE
  • The annual trick-or-treating and costume parade will take place Friday on the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk with candy collecting starting at 5 p.m.—the kids’ parade will begin at 6 p.m. in front of Drunken Jack’s at the pirate statue, where prizes are offered for different age groups. An adult contest with over $4,000 in cash and prizes is set to start at 7 p.m.—judges will review costumes on the Marshwalk with final decisions at Sloppy Jose’s at 9:30 p.m., and the event will end at 10:30 p.m.  WFXB Fox TV
  • Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance is hosting Halloween festivities at Nance Plaza that feature a Boo Bash with live music and a costume contest plus a Thriller line dance taught by Dancin’ B Fit, a group of local women who promote active living. Residents can learn the dance on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and then enjoy the performance at the Boo Bash on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m.  WPDE

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, fire crews responded at 11:20 a.m. to a heavy equipment fire on Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Road in Conway when an excavator caught fire — no injuries were reported and the machine sustained heavy damage while nearby equipment was unharmed.  WPDE

  • Microledon Farm is a small-scale vendor that grows and sells leafy greens, herbs, microgreens, and edible flowers to local restaurants in the Greater Grand Strand Area. The farm focuses on quality over quantity—ensuring customers get fresh produce.  WFXB Fox TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in South Carolina rose 4.3 cents per gallon last week to average about $2.68 on Monday, spoiling hopes for gas to drop below $3. Nationwide, prices increased 2.5 cents per gallon to roughly $3 as monthly and yearly averages remained lower — GasBuddy reported data from over 3,000 stations.  WPDE

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • North Myrtle Beach resident David Watkins and his family are stranded in Jamaica as the island braces for what could be its strongest storm. The group planned to return Sunday but flights were canceled—Watkins said they stocked up on food and water and moved to a safer spot in preparation for the storm.  WPDE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • North Oak Street between Highway 501 and Broadway and Oak Streets in Myrtle Beach was closed starting Monday so crews could install new water, sewer and stormwater lines—along with new electrical systems, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and a bike lane. Detour signs guide drivers while the project is set to finish by the end of the year.  WFXB Fox TV
  • Captain Jonathan Evans of the Myrtle Beach Fire Department offered Halloween safety tips and advised residents to check smoke detectors before Daylight Saving time begins Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2 a.m.—he also celebrated the official opening of new Station 3 that will strengthen community response.  WFXB Fox TV
  • The SCDOT said that the Cypress Avenue Bridge in Garden City will close on Nov. 3 for replacement work—drivers should use Atlantic Avenue during the project—and the work will last through spring.   My Horry News
