- ➤ Chesterfield Missionary Baptist Church will host its annual community cancer benefit, A Night in the Garden: Sapphire Nights Draped in Diamonds and Pearls, on October 25th at 6:00 p.m. at The Conference Center at Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach— the event will aim to raise $75,000 for local funds and Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital with all donations tax deductible. - ➤ Holy Lamb Lutheran Church will host a Fall Festival on October 25th from 10am to 2pm at 2541 Forestbrook Road, Myrtle Beach—attendees can enjoy pumpkins, baked goods, concessions, and free kids’ games, crafts, and fun activities. WFXB Fox TV
- ➤ The Downtown Myrtle Beach Alliance will host the Myrtle Beach Zombie Walk on Saturday, October 25th starting at 1:00 p.m. at Nance Plaza with live entertainment and professional make-up artists. The event will continue with a Zombie Walk beginning at 4:00 p.m. + Fright Nights from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Plyler Park to benefit the Grand Strand Down Syndrome Society. WFXB Fox TV
- ➤ Myrtle Beach will host its fifth annual Fall Fling on Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium (located along 33rd Avenue North). The free family event (also part of the Halloween weekend) will include a Dracula Dash Fun Run, vendors, a movie on the jumbotron, a haunted trail, a costume contest and a pumpkin hunt. WFXB Fox TV
- ➤ Surfside Beach is set to host Halloween festivities on Saturday. The day will begin with a Halloween Car Show from 9am—2pm at Surfside and Yaupon Drive, then a Best of the Beach Balls Meatball Challenge from 11am—2pm in the parking lot, followed by a Halloween Golf Cart Parade from 3—4pm with judging at Sundown Restaurant while kids enjoy a bounce house and pumpkin decorating. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A commercial flight landed safely at Myrtle Beach International Airport on Oct.22 after detecting possible smoke in its cockpit—emergency units responded at 11:30 a.m. but found no smoke and the plane will undergo extra inspections before returning to service. The Post and Courier

- ➤ A woman accused of sparking a wildfire that burned 2000 acres in Carolina Forest agreed to enroll in a diversion program. WMBF News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, Oct. 20, the Horry County Schools Board of Education reviewed the spring survey results on school climate—parents, teachers, and students showed high safety ratings, with 94% of parents, 99% of teachers, and 91% of students saying they felt safe. The survey also revealed that only 78.6% of students agreed that adults prevented bullying, and a drop in parent responses led Superintendent Clifford Jones to urge more participation in future surveys—promising that the district will use these findings to improve conditions.
