- ➤ Belin United Methodist Church will host its annual Fall Harvest Festival — BBQ on October 11. The event will feature pulled pork, coleslaw, BBQ beans and other dishes with tickets priced at $15. WFXB Fox TV
- ➤ Conway approved a new pedal pub tour that takes riders on a two-hour adventure through historic streets—making stops at local establishments along the riverfront. Reservations start at $38 for individuals and go up to $429 for private tours that accommodate groups of up to 15. WFXB Fox TV

- ➤ The Fall Taste of The Market Common event runs on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and lets residents try appetizers, entrées, desserts, and special dishes from local eateries — a chance to discover new favorites. WPDE

- ➤ Visit Myrtle Beach data shows that after the busy summer, some hotels and restaurants struggled as fewer Canadians visited and many travelers looked to save money—upscale hotels gained while budget options lagged. President Stuart Butler said overall occupancy averaged about 70% and tourism rates were 12% above pre-lockdown levels. WMBF News

- ➤ The principal of a new Horry County charter school will meet with parents this week to address concerns after teacher exits and student unenrollment troubled the school—officials say more changes may follow. WMBF News

- ➤ On Tuesday, a fuel tank washed ashore near Arcadian Drive and Horry County Fire Rescue responded with police and public works, while the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast is checking for leaks—officials confirm there is no risk to the public. WPDE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The South Carolina Department of Transportation announced temporary closures on part of SC 9 in Horry County with northbound lanes over US 17 closed nightly from 7pm to 7am starting Oct. 12 through the end of the month as crews work on bridge repairs—southbound lanes remain open with a detour in place. - ➤ City leaders are planning to restore faded traffic lines in busy areas—especially downtown and along Kings Highway—by bundling repairs into one larger project to attract contractors from outside the area. Infrastructure Projects Manager Chris Miller said the city is working to compile all necessary repairs to address the worsening condition of street markings. WMBF News
- ➤ On Tuesday, Horry County Council approved plans for Tidelands Health to build a new emergency room along Forestbrook Road to cut drive times for local residents. The plan includes a 20000 square foot emergency room and a 15000 square foot doctor site and will begin construction after the new year if the final vote passes—District 8 Councilman Michael Masciarelli said. - ➤ On Oct. 6, the North Myrtle Beach City Council deferred a proposed ordinance that would have allowed murals to include up to 10% commercial content to foster public art, postponing its first reading until November. - ➤ Atlantic Beach terminated interim police chief Carlos Castillo Tuesday for violating permit rules and failing to improve his performance — his issues include giving an alcohol permit against orders and misusing duty time — and the town will soon decide on a new police chief. WMBF News
