- ➤ Christopher DeCaro from Carolina Forest says that the lack of crosswalks, proper signage and traffic signals on River Oaks Drive makes it hard for pedestrians and bicyclists to travel safely. He said he was hit once by a driver near the high school and calls for new crossing lights at dangerous intersections — measures he hopes will prevent further injuries —. WMBF News
- ➤ Jack Thompson Day will honor the iconic photographer and unofficial Myrtle Beach historian by celebrating his birthday and six-decade career tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the Historic Myrtle Beach Train Depot — a tribute to his legacy — uniting the community in recognition of his work. WPDE

- ➤ Netflix series Outer Banks will film a scene at the Socastee swing bridge on Sept 27 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.—this is the third attempt after two previous tries were canceled by bad weather, and Highway 544 detours will guide traffic. My Horry News

- ➤ The South Carolina Department of Health reported a deadly case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis — the first in more than 20 years, and officials noted that the virus spreads from birds to mosquitoes in freshwater swamps while causing severe symptoms with no specific treatment. Health experts advise using repellent and protective measures to reduce mosquito bites. WPDE
- ➤ Lanette Barnes and Leslie Gluchowski discussed an annual 5K race in Myrtle Beach that will benefit Parkinson's research and the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The race will start at 7:00 a.m. on October 19 at Fleet Feet — 7931 N Kings Hwy and still needs sponsorships and prizes. WFXB Fox TV
