- ➤ Former Boys and Girls Club business manager Laura Rice sued the nonprofit after she was fired on April 15 for reporting alleged financial misconduct by executive director Ryan Grace—she claims the club ignored its own disciplinary policy and terminated her in retaliation. Rice documented unauthorized fund use beginning in December 2024 and is seeking monetary damages, arguing her firing violated state law. The Post and Courier
- ➤ MyHorryNews hired veteran reporter Mike Duprez as its new North Strand reporter to cover local news in North Myrtle Beach. - ➤ The North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club will host its fifth Annual Walk for Domestic Violence Awareness — What a Difference a Mile Makes on Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the North Myrtle Beach Sport Complex Amphitheater, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. and tickets costing $20 while kids under 12 and dogs enjoy free entry. - ➤ City officials announced that the City of Halloween is gearing up for the season with an 8ft by 8ft foam pumpkin built by the Construction Services Department unveiled today at downtown Conway’s Town Green—yesterday the city released a schedule featuring a midnight market, pumpkin patch, live music and costume contests. - ➤ A highway extension project near the Carolina state line will extend Carolina Bays Parkway from Highway 9 to Highway 17 and is causing concerns among local farmers—Indigo Farms owner Sallie Lun said the proposed interchange will cross her property and affect her livelihood. Community members will attend public hearings on September 29th in North Carolina and September 30th in South Carolina to share their concerns and support a petition with over 2,000 signatures. WPDE
- ➤ Myrtle Beach voters will choose a mayor and three Council members on Nov. 4 as five mayoral and 10 council candidates compete in a non-partisan election — the voter registration deadline is Oct. 4. WPDE

- ➤ Today, Tidelands Health — the region's largest healthcare system — plans to build a new emergency department and doctor’s office near Myrtle Beach at Forestbrook Road and Forest Edge Drive; construction is expected to start this year after Horry County Council approves rezoning.
