- ➤ City officials approved a 60—day extension for PicklePort Myrtle Beach to secure National Park Service approval for a new pickleball complex near Whispering Pines Golf Course, with the company set to build indoor and covered outdoor courts on city-owned land. - ➤ At a Tuesday city council meeting, CCU senior Alex Gaspar urged Myrtle Beach to ban single-use plastic bags, citing environmental concerns and studies showing that plastic makes up 74% of waste.—A city spokesperson confirmed his remarks were public input only, with any decision scheduled for a future agenda. - ➤ Myrtle Beach city leaders have approved a curfew that will bar minors from the defined Central Business District from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. during the extraordinary event weekends of July 10-13 and July 17-20 as a response to a rise in juvenile violence (137 juvenile arrests since spring break, with 57 involving violence, drugs, or weapons). Exemptions apply for minors accompanied by a parent or working during curfew hours. My Horry News
- ➤ Myrtle Beach officials updated the Vietnam Veterans Memorial project in Warbird Park, which could be complete by Memorial Day 2026. Councilman Bill McClure—a Vietnam veteran—moved to tears during the update as he learned the memorial will feature QR codes and a quote by President Jimmy Carter while construction drawings are set to be finalized and permits obtained in the next two months.
