- ➤ On April 16, South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics planted a rare second-generation Moon Tree grown from a loblolly pine seed that orbited the Moon on NASA’s Artemis I mission— the tree now stands at the campus entrance to encourage STEM education and discovery. WPDE

- ➤ South Carolina participated in Two Lights for Tomorrow on April 18—led by the American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission—to honor the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s midnight ride that warned colonists of the British advance. WPDE
- ➤ The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources announced that changes to recreational crabbing will begin July 1—fishermen will face a daily limit of one bushel per person or two per boat and must use escape rings on their crab traps with an option to fish with five traps for an extra $5 endorsement. One local commercial crabber said he lost his license renewal after failing to meet a crab quota that cost him $600 a month and urged the department to consider a soft shell crab shutdown to better protect blue crabs.
