COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Christopher Lane, a local brain cancer survivor, is hosting a 100-hole golf marathon on April 5th at 9 a.m. at Mount Atlanticus Minotaur Golf in Myrtle Beach—each hole in one will raise donations to send Bibles to cancer hospitals and outreach groups as a tribute to his cousin who died at 36.  WPDE
  • Volunteers built manufactured wire reefs with recycled oyster shells to restore oyster beds and protect shorelines along Myrtle Beach’s coast on March 20 as part of the South Carolina Oyster Recycling Enhancement program—local agencies will hold further events to improve coastal habitats.  My Horry News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcyclist died in Myrtle Beach after a crash at the intersection of Highway 15 + Pine Island Road when a bystander found him injured around 7 a.m. Thursday and he was taken to a hospital where he died an hour later as police began investigating the incident.  WFXB Fox TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Fun Warehouse is expanding its Surfside Beach facility with a $4 million, 15,000-square-foot addition — which will include 12 bowling lanes, interactive darts and six party rooms — expected to be finished by early June. Owner Tim Marks said the expansion is designed to attract more adult visitors — aiming to widen its appeal — while the facility already offers go-kart racing, laser tag and roller skating.  The Post and Courier

CRIME NEWS

  • Two women were arrested in Conway on child abuse charges after a report said a teacher assaulted a child on Monday — Kabria Nierra Hasty is charged with unlawful conduct toward a child and released on a $10,000 bond while Tanyell Wellington is charged with failing to report the abuse and released on a $2,000 bond.  WPDE

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A wildfire ignited in Carolina Forest on March 28 and reached about 7 acres by 7:05 p.m. as crews from Myrtle Beach and Conway fought to protect homes and businesses near West Perry Road—officials said it is separate from another blaze that has burned over 2,000 acres since March 1.  The Post and Courier

  • City officials in North Myrtle Beach updated residents on work at the park and sports complex yesterday — they explained current progress and outlined planned improvements.  WMBF News

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • RV There Yet? is filming two episodes in Myrtle Beach to capture coastal camping adventures — the show partners with the local campground association to highlight RV culture and outdoor fun. The episodes will air in May and June and will feature visits to popular campgrounds and local attractions.  WPDE
