  • The YMCA of Coastal Carolina opened its new Mission Advancement Center in downtown Myrtle Beach on Jan. 29 as a hub for education, health and water safety for Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties (located at 529a Broadway). It is the first step in its regional expansion plan.  The Post and Courier
  • Tripp Nealy plans to build a 9,835 sqft building to house two restaurants at Conway’s Riverwalk next to Bonfire Taqueria; the raised structure features roll-up garage doors for Waccamaw River views and awaits tenant selection plus further review by the Community Appearance Board on Feb. 11.  My Horry News

  • College leaders unveiled a historical marker on HGTC's main campus on Jan. 29 to mark its 60th anniversary and lasting impact on the community. The marker sits at the front corner of Building 1100A and is visible from Highway 501 in Conway.  My Horry News

  • The South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD) is tracking a winter weather system that could bring snow to the state this weekend, urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel and prepare for power outages.  WMBF News

  • Horry County Council will vote at 6 p.m. on Feb. 3 whether to approve a settlement that allows Asha Vista—a planned 178-bed psychiatric hospital—to open in Murrells Inlet.
